Hi! I’m Courtney - main recipe developer and photographer here at Love & Good Stuff.
My husband James is an occasional recipe contributor, full-time recipe taster and backend site magic maker around here.
We live near the shores of Lake Simcoe, Ontario, Canada with our daughter and our fur babies.
Food has always been a love of ours and we both enjoy time spending in the kitchen creating things - along with eating great food!
We are passionate about great tasting fresh and nutritious food and strive to make it easier for you to feed your family wholesome meals that are full of flavour with minimal time to prepare.
Our work has been featured in publications such as BuzzFeed, domino, and Greatist.
What you will find here
We have a passion for balanced eating and global cuisine and the recipe collection here reflects that. We also believe that cooking shouldn’t be hard, and you don’t need to spend hours in the kitchen to turn out a great meal.
Our recipes are:
- Easy to make and great tasting
- Takeout favourites made at home
- Mostly healthy and veggie-centric
- Classic favourites with a healthier spin that doesn’t compromise on flavour
- Real food recipes that you can feel good about feeding your family
- Family tested and approved
What is our food philosophy?
In an effort to maintain a balanced, healthy diet our family has adopted a flexitarian diet. While we understand that ‘healthy’ has a different meaning for everyone, for us it means eating lots of plants, staying away from heavily processed foods, and moderating meat and dairy products.
No food is off limits - we just like balance.
As a result, you will see recipes here that are suitable for a wide variety of diets: vegan, vegetarian, paleo, gluten free, low carb etc. While our goal is not to cater to one kind of diet, we will always note what diets a recipe is suitable for, and any easy swaps that can be made to adapt it
Sustainability
Healthy and balanced eating to us ALSO means thinking about the impact on our environment when we make our food choices. Our flexitarian lifestyle already helps to address our environmental concerns by shifting the focus on meals from meat and dairy to plants for the majority of our meals, but we also like to consider where our food is coming from.
We LOVE eating local and living in a rural area we are thankful to have so many opportunities to do so!
Our local farmers market is where you will catch us picking up produce during the summer months, and year-round we frequent local farms for free-run eggs, and naturally and ethically raised meat.
When purchasing fish, we opt for wild-caught where possible and always choose a sustainable option.
Let's be friends
We love to hear from you!
One of the best things about this job is hearing from our readers! Nothing makes our day more than hearing about how you or your family enjoyed the recipes from our site. If you enjoyed something, leave a comment - I always respond to readers.
If Instagram or Facebook are more of your thing you can find us there too!
Never miss a recipe!
